Murray River System - Knowledge Exchange

On 3 April 2007, the natural resource management agencies along the Murray River came together at Mulwala, to share knowledge and skills surrounding this common issue.  This inaugural forum has created a network for catchment management agencies to continually improve the community’s capacity to take on the challenge of effective natural resource management.

All the Catchment Management Authorities (CMA’s) and Natural Resource Management (NRM) Regions along the Murray River are grappling with similar biophysical, social and economic issues.  They all share a common goal of a sustainable Murray catchment.  This forum has been an opportunity to hear about innovative approaches, test ideas, share the experiences and inputs of others and ultimately improve our working relationships for a common goal.

In light of the 2007Australian Governmentannouncement regarding the future management of the Murray-Darling Basin, the opportunity for the CMAs and NRM Regions of the Murray River system have a greater vested interest in being able to share issues and solutions for natural resource management.

At this Forum, each CMA/NRM region provided presentations that explored the different ways of approach for natural resource management within their regions.  Please note that these presentations were aimed at a targeted audience in a workshop environment.  For further details about the content of each presentation, contact the relevant Authority directly.

This forum was made possible through funding from Land & Water Australia and Greening Australia’s Exchange Program.
