Scope:
To bring the CMAs of southern NSW, northern Victoria and the NRM region
of South Australia together to share NRM delivery experiences in
preparation for NHT3 and potential changes to the
management of the
Murray-Darling Basin.

Background:
The Murray CMA will bring together the CMA staff from all the
Victorian, South Australian and NSW CMAs along thne Murray River for a
workshop aimed at knowledge exchange. The workshop was
divided into a number of different sessions based on common
environmental issues.
Each theme
session had 4 parts:
- Outline briefs on the actions being done by
each CMA to reduce threats to assets and what they think are the
lessons learnt from applying these actions;
- Open forum discussion on what are the key
messages and issues relating from (1);
- Knowledge exchange between CMAs to begin
finding solutions to the issues and key messages from (2); and
- Future planning focussing on the development of
mechanisms that will establish long term communication between CMAs.
The aim being to establish better
relationships, create long term information exchange, encourage
cooperation and avoid reinventing the wheel.
Outcomes:
- Encourages efficiencies,
innovation and value adds through exchange of ideas and knowledge.
- Development of cooperation
and communication.
- Reduces cross-regional and
cross jurisdictional boundaries at the tactical planning level.
- Reduces repetition of
mistakes.
